The Storm Sewer Discharge Permit regulates temporary water discharge into the City of Kitchener’s storm sewer system.

Temporary Dewatering Discharge Permit

This permit authorizes the temporary discharge of surface and groundwater for construction-related dewatering activities. It remains valid for 365 days from issuance. If water extraction continues beyond this period, an updated application reflecting any changes must be submitted 30 business days prior to expiry.

 

2. Submission Guidelines

Applicants must submit a completed application along with a download link for all supporting documentation to sanitarystorm.approvals@kitchener.ca.

Once the application is submitted, the City will issue a Permit #, which must be included in the subject line of all future correspondence with the City.

Note: The application must be prepared by or under the direct supervision of a Qualified Person (QP): Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.).
