Neighbours Day - Music Ambassador application

In celebration of Neighbours Day, the City of Kitchener will host a community-wide porch party across the city on Saturday, June 21, 2025. We are looking for residents that would be interested in volunteering their porch, driveway, or front yard to be a Music Ambassador and host a musician for a one-hour community performance for you and other residents on your street to enjoy!

Performance Times: One-hour performances held at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. OR 5 p.m.

Your role as a Music Ambassador

Host the musician and welcome the musician to your property (porch, driveway, or front yard, according to your selection below) on Neighbours Day
Share the timing of the porch/driveway/front yard performance with your neighbours and post lawn signs
If desired, work with your neighbours to create an afternoon of community fun by adding extra elements to enhance the event
Provide a power source for the musician's equipment
Provide the musician with water and washroom use if needed during their performance
Welcome your neighbours for a good time together!

I am hosting a performance starting at either 1, 2, 4 or 5 p.m. My performance time will be provided by City staff after being accepted as a Music Ambassador.

Performances will be approximately one hour.

I am responsible for providing a power source to the musician.

I am responsible for providing a washroom and water to the musician if needed.

My musician is determined by the committee. Musicians can be diverse, and the genres of music will vary.

The location of the performance needs to be on my front property (lawn, driveway or porch, based on my selection above)

Upon approval

City staff will connect to inform you of your performance time, musician information, confirm any application requests and arrange for pick-up of promotional supplies and signs.

Homeowners insurance, risks, property owner consent

I understand that by hosting this event, my homeowners insurance would be used to cover any unforeseen incidents that may happen on my property during the event. I understand that there are risks to hosting a public event on my property, including damage to person or property for me, event attendees and third parties, and that I may take steps to mitigate those risks in my discretion. In the unlikely event of an incident that results in a claim against my homeowners insurance policy, the City will cover my deductible up to $1000, if the incident happened between noon/12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 21, 2025. The City’s insurance policy will respond to incidents involving municipal property (cul-de sacs, boulevards, sidewalks). If I am a tenant/occupant and not the property owner, I agree to (a) obtain the property owner’s consent, and (b) communicate the content of this application to the property owner.

Notice of collection

Personal information is being collected under the authority of s.11(1) of the Municipal Act and in accordance with s. 28(2) of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and will be used to administer the Neighbours Day event. This information will be shared with staff who require it for their work as part of their work at the City of Kitchener and will be stored on a server owned by a Third Party Service Provider (GHD Group) located in Canada. The personal information collected herein will be used only for the purposes relating to the program and will be protected in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the MFIPPA.
