We are looking for 40 community members who can bring a diverse mix of voices, perspectives, and lived experiences to the City of Kitchener Resident Panel to help inform the City’s next Strategic Plan. 

This information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001 and individual responses will be kept confidential. Results from the Resident Panel focus groups will be used by the City in grouped/aggregate form (no individual responses), with no personal information included, to support City decisions related to policy, planning and services. For questions, contact Katie Rieger, Project Lead, Strategic Plan, 200 King St. W Kitchener, 519-741-2345.

The volunteer group will meet five (5) times in person at the Kitchener Market (300 King St E, Kitchener, ON N2G 2L3). The meeting schedule is as follows:

  • July 18, 2026 – 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. 
  • August 22, 2026 – 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. 
  • September 19, 2026 – 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
  • October 24, 2026 – 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.  
  • November 14, 2026 – 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. 

Important: Volunteers will be asked to prepare in advance of each meeting by doing one or more of the following: reading materials, watching videos, and reflecting on agenda content (approximately 1-3 hour pre-work commitment per session).

Resident Panel members are selected through a lottery process designed to create a representative cross‑section of residents rather than a first‑come, first‑served group. 

The information requested in the following questions is used only for the purpose of lottery selection. It allows us to match the overall composition of the panel as closely as possible to the community’s diversity, using 2021 Census data or more recent available sources. Individual responses are not assessed on merit and do not affect eligibility beyond supporting a fair and representative selection process.
